Sammi was caring for an adult patient with special needs who usually keeps a baby doll with her. The patient did not have the doll with her when she arrived in the ED. Sammi went above and beyond to try and locate a doll by calling other areas of the hospital. When she couldn't find one, Sammi used her own money to buy the patient a teddy bear from the gift shop.
Once Sammi gave the bear to her patient, the patient began to settle down and feel at ease. Sammi's act of kindness and compassion completely changed this patient's visit. Sammi definitely went above and beyond for the patient and made her feel at home.
