Sam was extremely thoughtful towards me and even after her shift was over she was thinking about me. Sam made me feel at ease.
I was in the hospital for a TCAR surgery. Sam was my nurse from the 5th floor North tower vascular. Sam is an amazing, professional, caring, loving, and compassionate nurse. From the time that I got into my room, she took charge right away. She checked everything on me along with her supervisor and kept assuring me how great I looked right after surgery. Her assurance and knowledge made me feel very comfortable under her care. My head was bandaged up and I had a lot of bleeding all over my head. She assured me, my husband, my daughter that it’s really not as bad as it looked. Sam also said that she would clean me up right away. She stayed in my room for a very long time in the back of my bed just taking care of me and cleaning me up. Sam wanted to make sure that the blood would not stay in clumps in my hair, she said it will be very hard to wash out. While she was cleaning me up, we were all talking, it seemed like we had a lot of things in common even though she’s so much younger than we were. While working on my hair she kept assuring me that it looks really great and there’s nothing to worry about. She left my room, but periodically before her shift ended she kept coming into my room to check on me always having encouraging words. Sam has a kind soothing voice and appearance, along with her knowledge, professionalism, and respect. Before her shift ended she came into my room and said good night to me and my husband. She also added that she’s was working the following day and she’ll see me in the morning.

The next day, Sam showed up with a big smile on her face along with a balloon that says “wishing you smiles and sunshine.” It was a perfect gift next to the floral arrangements that I have received from family and friends. Sam also handed me a little bag with a few goodies for my hair. She said that it will help with the smoothness of my hair when I get to wash it. Sam was extremely thoughtful towards me and even after her shift was over she was thinking about me. Sam made me feel at ease. I’m very blessed that I had such a great nurse to attend to my needs. I jokingly said to her along with all these nice things you didn’t bring me a headband? My hair was all over my face. Within a few minutes she came back and she made me a headband. I wore that headband at home for a few days after my surgery. The products that Sam bought for my hair work very well! Thank you very much!

Sam throughout the day was in and out of my room a lot. It seemed like every chance that she got she was there and we were talking, getting to know each other. Sam did her nursing duties plus so much more for me and my family. Sam’s passion for nursing really shines. Sam has speeded up my recovery time, with encouragement, a positive attitude, and overall caring. When she left that evening we exchanged phone numbers and we are keeping up with each other. Sam is great! May God keep her in good health and positive attitude to be able to heal people in need under her care! God bless!
