I am very honored to commend Samantha Canela Encarnacion in recognition of the outstanding care she provided to my mother during a recent Emergency Department visit.

Samantha immediately made a difference. From the moment she introduced herself, she was warm, personable, and reassuring. She took the time to explain what she was doing, answered our questions, and helped my mother feel comfortable during a stressful situation.

One of the many things that stood out to me was how attentive she was to both my mother and me throughout the visit. She frequently checked in to see how my mother was feeling, brought us warm blankets, and made sure we had everything we needed. She even personally walked me to the vending machine, so I would not get lost. This act spoke volumes about how much she genuinely cared about the people she was taking care of. She was also an exceptional nurse from a clinical standpoint. She placed my mother’s IV quickly and skillfully, making what is often an uncomfortable experience seem effortless. I was especially impressed by her compassionate efficiency. While preparing my mother’s IV and coordinating her care, Samantha obtained a very thorough HPI and ROS, listened carefully to my mother’s answers, and remembered every detail, keeping my mother’s care moving efficiently. It was clear that she was both highly skilled and deeply engaged in her patients’ care.

What makes Samantha a DAISY Nurse is her ability to combine clinical excellence with genuine compassion. She made my mother feel comfortable and cared for during a vulnerable moment, and she made me feel confident that my mother was in excellent hands. After we left the Emergency Department, my mother specifically commented on how much of a difference Samantha made during her visit. She told me that Samantha’s compassion and kindness helped ease her nervousness and made her feel genuinely cared for.

As a family member, there is no greater comfort than seeing someone you love treated with that level of attentiveness and humanity. The care Samantha provided went far beyond completing tasks—it was clear that she truly cared about her patients and their families. Our Emergency Department experience was better because of Samantha, and I am grateful for the kindness, professionalism, and dedication she showed us. Samantha represents the very best of nursing, combining exceptional clinical skill with the compassion, kindness, and attentiveness that made such a meaningful difference to my mother and our family.
