We would like to sincerely thank the entire staff and nursing team on the K8 Neurology ward for their exemplary care, kindness, and support of C and our family. 

We would, however, like to thank and nominate Samantha Charlton in particular. 
 
Nursing an entire family through the inevitable loss of a beloved family member must have taken an immense toll on her – she was rostered for the day shifts and therefore spent as much time with us as she did with C. Nevertheless, she remained unwavering and continually professional throughout. 
 
Sam spoke to C with great respect and included her in all our conversations. She approached all interactions with C’s interests at the forefront and made us feel reassured by her very particular care and gentleness. She was light-mannered, offering well-thought-out anecdotes and shared experiences (such as also having a little sister named E) that helped to lift and lighten our mood.
 
Sam’s attention to detail regarding C’s needs and support for us was clear at all times, and we consider it to be of an exemplary level. Her kindness and warm personality were truly appreciated by our entire family in the very worst of times. We believe that Sam is very deserving of a DAISY Award.
