Sammy made me feel so safe and cared for.
Sammy had been my nurse multiple times, leading up to the delivery of my son due to preterm labor issues. I had to have a C-section due to complications. Sammy was by my side the entire time, making sure I was okay. Throughout my post partum recovery, she was so kind and personal with me. It felt like she was an older sister just making sure my baby and I were okay. During the first night of my recovery, I was really struggling mentally and physically. Between being by myself because my husband had to leave, the hormones, and learning to breastfeed, I was so overwhelmed. Sammy saw that and took action to help in whatever way she could. She talked with me so I could calm down, and she even offered to take my son out of the room so I could get some sleep. I had been up for so long. At first, I was unsure, but she assured me everything would be okay. She kept him at the nurse station, holding him the whole time while also doing what she needed to do for her job. She didn't have to. She could have put him in the nursery, but she wanted to stay true to her word that he would be okay. Sammy made me feel so safe and cared for. I will never forget the acts of kindness she did throughout my pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum. She did so many small things that she didn't have to make me feel okay. And I will forever be grateful for her being my nurse.
