I want everyone to know that Sammie on 5 North is such an amazing nurse. If it was not for her in the beginning when we started on June 1st helping guide me and my husband I don't think his outcome would be so good. I have learned with my years in the medical field to always listen to the patient's family because they are the biggest advocate the patient has. I am so pleased with Sammie listening to me when I knew things where not right. She saw the problems J was having and she then became his biggest advocate surpassing me.
Her knowledge and understanding was beyond helpful to us. Her being able to call the doctors (she had to do this many times) and let them know the problems he had was so important. I am pretty sure without her by J's side he would not be here today. When we were wheeled very quickly to ICU, I saw in her face that she was like our family - she really did care about him. Coming back to 5 North after 24-26 days in ICU was wonderful because the first person we saw was Sammie. I cannot thank her enough for what she did and what she is still doing.
Every day we had her was a gift that we will never forget. If you do what you love you will never work a day in your life. Sammie is one of those special people that love what she does and it very much shows.
