We had a patient with dementia who was often disoriented and confused. While this was not Sam's patient, she went out of her way to show compassion to this patient during a period of distress. Sam showed excellent skills with therapeutic communication, providing clinical care to make the patient more physically comfortable, and offering activities to redirect the patient and keep her mentally comfortable as well. This is not the first, and I'm sure will not be the last time, that I have seen Sam treat a patient with exceptional kindness, and outstanding nursing care. Even on busy days and during hard times, Sam makes time to go above and beyond standard care. She consistently and enthusiastically demonstrates a genuine interest in the health and happiness of patients.
