Sam listened to my story with such personal attention, care, and compassion that it brought tears to my eyes.
I’m almost 70 years old with severe asthma. I have had over 30 surgeries and have been in the hospital 45 times since 2014. I came to the hospital by Code 3 ambulance in AFib for the first time. Your ED was excellent. I could never ask for better treatment. Sam was my nurse while I was there. She was a true professional. She was skilled, knowledgeable, and attentive to my needs.

Every time I called for assistance; Sam was there. In fact, she broke away from her lunch to check on me when I was suffering from a breathing crisis. What touched my heart was not only did Sam serve my medical needs, she cared for my emotional needs. My wife of 30 years was at home suffering from high-grade carcinoma. She had emergency surgery about 15 days prior and the doctor was unable to remove any of the cancer from her body. I am my wife’s primary caretaker. Sam listened to my story with such personal attention, care, and compassion that it brought tears to my eyes.

Later in the day, she allowed me to share small family stories that are very important to me. She never rushed me, and I knew she was doing important work for other people. She gave me a chance to heal and stay balanced while here in the hospital. While I was living through the most challenging circumstances in my life, Sam brightened my spirits and kept hope in my heart.
