June 2010 Honoree
samantha doe, RN
I was in detox and feeling like nobody cared, hopeless, shamed, and all the bad stuff that goes with that. Samantha must have noticed that. I was feeling like leaving and getting high. She brought me in my room and told me I am special and I can change and be someone people like to be around. I said some people look at me like when is she going to leave or how long is she going to stay. I had that soul sickness and Samantha made me feel important and she made me feel like I can do this and once I feel better about myself people will look at me with that gleam. She told me self-esteem will make the difference.
Thank you, Samantha, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
