My wife has been in the MICU for 10 weeks. Yesterday, her nurse, Samantha, came up with the idea to take her outside for a change of scenery. She gathered all the mobile equipment necessary and enlisted the additional help needed. When my wife became anxious about the trip, she skillfully explained exactly what was going to happen to calm her down. She seemed to relax enough to fall asleep during the ride. Once outside, she smiled at me for the first time in 2 months. It was difficult for me to contain my tears of joy! This act of extreme kindness by Samantha was well above the call of duty.
