From the moment I arrived in Pre-Op Sam's energetic approach to her position as a nurse was most evident. Right away she noticed the poor condition of my ice machine circulation pad and had it replaced. I hesitantly explained my overactive bladder issue and she immediately said "Say no more" and got me a urinal. In sharing some of our backgrounds, we discovered we had a common friend with whom we could share stories. I was pleasantly surprised that in recovery, she had been moved to that unit, as well. That is when I witnessed the relationships she had with her coworkers. I was intrigued by the constant conversations she was having over the communicating headset she wore and particularly checking on the unique combination of pain management pills I was to take because of my allergies to pain medications. She also struck up a continued conversation with my wife in the pre-op setting and always asked "Is there anything I can get you." It is without hesitation that I nominate Sam for this award.
