Samantha found out the dentures were at JHCC and arranged for them to be brought here. He is now looking forward to eating.
Samantha was doing routine central line dressing change when she noticed what looked to be a questionable central line site with purulent drainage and various sores that looked infected. The nurses called the provider and the provider ordered mupirocin. The nurses escalated to infectious control who recommended asking for ID Consul and to show them the picture of the site. ID stated the patient was on IV antibiotics and ordered the tunneled catheter to be removed in IR and tip cultured.
Another good catch by Samantha involves a patient who was refusing to eat pureed food that was ordered solely because his dentures were not here at the hospital. Samantha found out the dentures were at JHCC and arranged for them to be brought here. He is now looking forward to eating. He was slated to have a PEG tube because of his poor intake. The patient was here for several days and Sam took the time to figure out what was troubling the man.
