My 85-year-old father had an emergency GI surgery. After a shift change, Samantha became our nurse along with a young lady who was shadowing her. Both of these gals were amazing. We saw them every hour and they never missed any check-ins. Samantha was attentive, as well as encouraging. It impressed us how personable she was not only to Dad but also to me. We felt like it wasn't only about the medical care (which was excellent), but also a genuine interest in how we felt and our needs. As a retired teacher, I was also impressed by the way she joyfully and patiently trained the newer nurse. The two were always smiling, even when I saw them in the hallways. Samantha was our nurse for a few days, but even after she was moved to other patients, she would drop in just to say hello to Dad and ask how we were doing. We had several excellent nurses while here for 11 days, but Samantha stood above them all. She was leaving for a week of vacation, and we were sad to see her go, but she definitely deserved some time to relax.
