Samantha took the time out of her day to call around and was able to locate the missing dog.  Once the dog was found, Samantha helped facilitate having the dog transferred to a local vet for safekeeping.
Samantha is always extremely attentive and provides excellent care to all of her patients.  Sam goes above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that her patients are safe and well cared for.  She truly strives to ensure her patients have the best possible outcomes, always exuberating positive energy and a caring attitude.  In the last week, I witnessed the care Sam provided to two of her patients.  The care was a true testament to the great work she does every day.  Samantha was caring for a young 18-year-old patient who was critically ill.  With a new diagnosis and an admission to the ICU, he was scared, nervous, and anxious.  He required several procedures, for which Samantha accompanied him.  She sat next to him, talking to him through his procedures to help him relax and calm down.  I feel that this is a great example of patient-centered care.  The patient expressed to me how grateful he was for the care that Samantha provided to him, stating, "I could not have done it without her."

The other situation entailed a patient who, unfortunately, did not have the best living conditions at home.  She was very upset about her pet dog, which she could not locate.  Samantha took the time out of her day to call around and was able to locate the missing dog.  Once the dog was found, Samantha helped facilitate having the dog transferred to a local vet for safekeeping.  Though this was not necessarily direct patient care, it did help prevent any further stress that could hinder the care being provided to her patient.

Samantha is a true asset to the ICU and Mary Immaculate Hospital.  She treats each and every patient with dignity, compassion, and respect.  Sam is a bright ray of sunshine and makes not only her patients' day better but her co-workers' as well.
