Sam quickly established a trusting relationship with my closest friend (the patient), as well as everyone in the family circle!! She went over and above to establish trust in a caring manner for all of us. Her communications were exceptional and caring. She was trusted explicitly by all.
Ms. Ham took great care of my cousin, C, who passed away today. While Ms. Ham's nursing skills are exceptional, her bedside manner is beyond compare. She came into my cousin's home, and she was immediately part of our family. When C was feeling anxious, I could FaceTime Sam, and somehow Ms. Ham would soothe C's anxiety with humor and love and pictures of her precious calf, Ollie. Somehow, the two of them developed a bond that brought us all comfort in the last days of C's life. I cannot thank her enough for easing us into this next stage of our lives without C on the planet. Please let our adopted nurse know how much she is loved and adored by C's family. She will not be forgotten.

Sam came into a setting that was new territory for me and immediately made it familiar because she lives in East Bell County where I grew up. As she talked about her rural background, I immediately connected to my grandparent's farm that was probably not more than six miles away from where she lives. That connection helped me recognize her as a visiting angel to help my loved one transition into a better place. And that better place might be a farm in East Bell County as far as I know. Sam tended to my cousin in a way that my wife and I could only do from a distance - not being medically trained. She is so attentive, and we are so thankful.

Sam was assigned to C as her Hospice RN a few months ago. My heart and soul are full of a lifetime of family stories. My cousin, C, is in my earliest memories and blessed me with her love and presence in my world since I was a tiny baby. C and I have family ties that go back many generations. Sam gently & lovingly guided a sad & stressed group of people through a very difficult path. Sam’s demeanor was perfectly positive EVERY time I saw her (at least 10 or 15 times). She knew what she was doing but made it seem as simple as sweeping a floor. Our family was given a true gift when Sam became a part of it. Thank you, Sam!
