Sam leaves a lasting impression on each and every patient she comes into contact with. Many patients who return for weekly appointments try to hide their disappointment when they realize she will not be the nurse with them that day. Sam has a way of speaking so calmly and eloquently with her patients that she can calm the nerves of any patient. She is continuously sweet to both her patients and coworkers. I have never worked with someone who maintains such a level of care and compassion as well as a sense of family. Whether you are a patient, visitor, employee, or management, Sam will make you feel at home the moment you enter the department. An example of this is a patient who has since passed but would request that Sam be his nurse each week. Sam would always have coffee ready and waiting for the patient's wife, and she knew every little detail about their lives. When I first began orienting to CVIR with Sam, I could feel the true connection between her and her patients.
