After finding myself admitted for an obstructing kidney stone, I was able to see how the OMH experience is from a patient standpoint. I have had the opportunity to see Nurse Samantha Mcleroy grow from a brand-new baby nursing student into an amazing new grad. She has become a compassionate nurse, which became apparent during my hospital stay. Samantha rounded frequently and made sure that all of my needs were met. I said I would love to shower, and Samantha immediately grabbed towels, washcloths, and supplies to wrap my IV. She started the shower, placed towels outside it, and stated that she wanted to ensure the shower was ready and hot so I didn’t have to wait for it to get hot. Samantha was there to listen when I was stressing over childcare and what I needed to figure out. She was quick to talk to me and just offer an ear. When I was unsure that my husband would be able to be at the hospital for my procedure, Samantha offered to come to the hospital on her day off to sit and make sure I wasn’t alone. Samantha is an amazing patient advocate, not hesitating to reach out to providers when she feels needs are unaddressed. I am so excited to see her continued growth. She is such an asset to anyone in her care. OMH is very lucky to have her as a part of our hospital family.
