Samantha took care of my dad when he was in critical condition after suffering from a heart attack.  It was one of the scariest days in my life and my family’s life.  She explained everything to us about his condition, what medications he was on, everything that was happening to try and help us make the best treatment decisions for our dad when he couldn’t make them himself.

He coded twice during the first day shift she took care of him.  She kept us calm; she was our rock and, at the same time, provided extraordinary care to him.

She took time to talk to all of us together and separately, she answered every question we had with patience and kindness. She acted quickly when his vitals were changing, his saturations, when his kidneys started to fail. She made sure everything possible was done timely to give him the best chance to live.

Dad recovered and still has a long way to go, but my family and I truly believe she was one of the reasons he is still here with us.  She also took time to come and visit him and us when he was transferred to PCU to say hi and check on him.

Sam is truly an Extraordinary Nurse and one of a kind.  I am an RN and Banner employee, but during that time, I was a scared daughter who needed kindness.
