1 “I am a MICU nurse at RIH, and for the last 4 months have found myself on the other side as a patient. It has been a difficult few months managing my own career and the many frustrations of disease diagnostics. I was admitted inpatient to 4 West at Miriam Hospital this week, and Sam was my nurse. Words will not satisfy the gratitude I have for her patient advocacy and impeccable care. She is an excellent representative of C.A.R.E. at the bedside, and in the setting of extreme stress from my perspective, she offered a warm and attentive welcome. She went above and beyond to ensure that the care I received was attentive and thorough care. She has a dynamic understanding of medicine, critical thinking, patient-centered care, compassion, and education. She was attentive and showed excellence in patient advocacy even amidst her busy assignment, and I am incredibly grateful that she was my nurse during this stay. From a nurse-to-nurse perspective, you truly cannot get better care than I received. While I affirmed her of this countlessly while I was there, I felt like her excellence in the workplace needed further formal recognition.”
#2 The compassion Sam showed to her patient was just breathtaking. Sam, went above and beyond for this patient, ordering a cultural meal because the patient had not been eating. Way to Go! Nice way to pay it forward! This was a COVID-positive patient. The patient was non-English speaking and had not eaten in days. By utilizing a translator, RN was able to communicate with the patient and order the food she would eat.

Thank you, Samantha, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
