Samantha Ortega, RN
I don’t know where to start, but I’d like to wholeheartedly thank this angel of a nurse whom I never got to thank at all because our family was going through such a tough time.
I ended up at the hospital in the labor and delivery unit and was so happy to see her again. I immediately asked her for her name and hoped she didn’t think I was a creep for instantly asking.
My daughter had woken up and was having a normal day at 25 weeks pregnant. She went to a doctor's appointment and was told they couldn’t hear the baby's heartbeat, so she was sent to the hospital. She unfortunately miscarried and went through with labor, had the baby, and it was just such a sad moment. So many emotions.
Having to plan funeral arrangements, my daughter was definitely going through postpartum depression already.
Her nurse was Samantha; she went above and beyond. She was so understanding, compassionate, and just so wonderful in such an ugly moment for all of us. Truly an angel.
She went out of her way to get my daughter flowers, to be there for her. She showed support and love because I got to witness her shed a tear (I don’t think she knows I noticed), but it was just such a bittersweet moment. To witness a nurse who is passionate about what she does, who helps, who gives hope in a time of need when all feels lost was just such a beautiful feeling.
My daughter had been battling postpartum depression for months and just recently started feeling a little better and that impact that Samantha left on her just left me in awe. She did such a wonderful job; she was so kind that my daughter herself is now pursuing nursing to be able to do what Samantha did for her.
Samantha, you were the light and the end of the tunnel; you gave her hope and made her feel somewhat okay in that dark moment. We will forever be grateful.
