My son's critical situations are daily, by the minute, the hour, the day. Ending up in the PICU means life's dangers have hit and every situation can be critical. As a parent, you're immediately thrust into the hands of nurses you don't know and somehow have to find an immediate way to trust. For me, my periscope is huge and my magnifying glass wide. Attitude, confidence, patience, ego, competence, are all observed on the spot.
Sam embodies everything I pray for when meeting a stranger who walks into my son's life. Her ability to adapt to a situation, under intense stress, is amazing. She's calm, has a very warm, welcoming demeanor and razor-sharp focus. Her attention to detail is exemplary. All situations with Sam couldn't have been any better than what they were. My son was blessed that on 3 of the day shifts, Sam was assigned to him. Thank you, Sam.
