I am nominating Samantha for the compassion and all-around excellent care she provided to my family and me. I am also an RN in the Emergency Department. My uncle was brought into the ED as a full arrest and unfortunately passed away. It is hard to have a full arrest as is, but I can only imagine how it feels to have the arrest of another coworker's family. Samantha and the entire night shift team worked so hard and tried their very best to bring him back, but he had succumbed to his illness.
I cannot rave enough about how well Samantha handled dealing with our family. She showed compassion to my father who had just lost his younger brother and guided him to the room so he could have one last goodbye to his brother. She allowed me and my family to cry on her shoulder and gave us as much time as we needed to grieve. My family will always be grateful to those who were involved in his care and the respect they have shown for not only the patient but the patient's family as well.
