I still randomly think about the nurse who helped me during labor with my baby. She was a stranger, but she saw me at my most vulnerable. Her job was to encourage me and keep me safe and comfortable. She was so incredibly kind. To my nurse, I hope you are having the best day ever. I am so thankful for what you do. Not only did you take care of me in Labor and Delivery, but when my baby was readmitted to the pediatric unit, you went out of your way to check on me. When the nurse taking care of me had to leave for an emergency, you changed your assignment so you could take care of us and get us home. I still think about you and the kindness you showed my family often. E is 1 year old now, and it made me think of you. Thank you for going above and beyond. Thank you for the education you gave me, for taking the time to sit down and walk me through everything, and for advocating for my baby when she had jaundice. I will never forget you.
