A patient was admitted to our unit post cardiac arrest. The patient is the mother of an eight week old infant who was being breastfed. Even though the patient was not Sam's patient, Sam was the one who called the doctor to ask if the nursing staff could "pump and dump" and also called family birth place to get a breast pump so the patient would still be able to breastfeed once she was able to return home. It is for the care and compassion that Sam demonstrates to all patients on our unit that she deserves the DAISY Award.
