Samantha is amazingly knowledgeable and takes pride in what she does. I have spent 4 weeks in this hospital and although I have had been with several nurses I have not seen anyone above and beyond like Samantha. My mom was brought from another hospital by helicopter then sent to the ICU and transferred over to 4 North. She had tubes in every hole of her body, literally. With care and patience, Samantha out did herself by understanding the needs of the patient requesting an Isoflex bed, reassuring she had some movement in her body. Also she realized that her catheter wasn't working. Not only did she make certain that the catheter was changed during her shift, but she also requested and ordered specific medications to ease the patient's pain. As soon as that new catheter was in, within minutes all fluids were draining into the bag. Amazing. Not to mention that while she was with my mom she never once failed to pick up her phone to attend other patients' needs. Truly a Wonder Woman. St. Joseph's should be proud to have her on the team.

Samantha went above and beyond to ensure that I was always comfortable. She was quick to answer my calls, asked all the questions necessary to ensure that she was receiving the most accurate and updated information on my recovery throughout the whole day. Her demeanor stayed friendly and she gladly bantered amicably back and forth with me and my visitors. This further proved that I was in good hands. She portrayed genuine concern for me, her patient. She catered to my needs sometimes even before I knew I needed them. She constantly made suggestions to improve my comfortability and always respected my concerns. She answered my questions, not as though they were stupid or naive, but as if they held weight and value and merited a well-thought and honest response that further allowed me to understand my care. She was gentle, kind and exercised excellent bedside manner. Samantha really excelled at making me feel welcome at St. Joseph's and like a valued patient and individual with specific needs that she was at the ready to cater to without complaint. She was always smiling, quite humorous and she's largely why my stay here was even remotely bearable. She really was, for me, a constant breath of fresh air. I couldn't thank her enough for making me feel like I was home away from home, even in excruciating pain. Thank you Samantha.
