October 2016 Honoree
samantha wellman, RN
Sam spent an extremely hard night with my father who has Alzheimer's. Around midnight my father became agitated and threw off all his covers, took his sling off, pulled his gown off and ripped his diaper off. Once he was naked he spent the next 3 hours sitting on the side of his bed "picking things out of the river and fixing the tractor". Sam kept him occupied with rolls of hand towels she had rolled up and taped into various sizes. Sam was so patient and kind to my father in a time when it would have been easy not to be. She helped me through a difficult night and let me find a time for sleep. Sam is a wonderful, caring, and compassionate Nurse.
Thank you, Samantha, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
