Samaritan Hospital Crisis Unit

The Crisis Unit at Samaritan Hospital has been working tirelessly to provide evaluations, stabilization, and a safe environment for a vulnerable population. Throughout the pandemic, they have faced many challenges, not limited to the behavioral health crisis that we are currently experiencing. They have evaluated an unprecedented amount of patients, specifically adolescents, and have had to navigate the limited in-patient and out-patient resources available during these unprecedented times. They have worked collaboratively with the Emergency Department to maintain open communication and patient flow with the increased volume of patients coming into the ED. Significant work has been done to create a safe environment to accommodate patients in need of crisis services while also managing increased volumes of crisis patients due to other area hospitals having to frequently go on diversion. The Crisis Team deserves to be recognized for their teamwork, compassion, resilience, and efforts to support those experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
