Furthermore, with Dr. Moughrabi’s service mindset, she serves the students, the school of nursing, and the university tirelessly. Her consistent presence in service is shown throughout the years she has been working at CSUDH.
Dr. Samira Moughrabi started her career as a nurse in 1987, and a few years later, she completed a master’s degree in nursing (Clinical Nurse Specialist with a concentration in Cardio-pulmonary nursing). As someone who highly values lifelong learning, Dr. Moughrabi continued her education and earned her Ph.D in nursing from the University of California Los Angeles in 2009. Furthermore, she also holds a Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate since 2015. Currently, Dr. Moughrabi is an associate professor at the School of Nursing, California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH).
In teaching, Dr. Moughrabi is committed to employing the most effective pedagogical techniques in her course delivery, ensuring that students successfully achieve the intended learning outcomes. With her expertise, and since her appointment at CSUDH, she has taught eight courses to graduate and undergraduate students. She has also assumed the Course Content Expert role for three courses, which she revamped to enhance students’ learning and fulfill the accreditation requirements for Program Learning outcomes. Based on student comments, Dr. Moughrabi is characterized by her flexibility, availability, and commitment to advancing students’ academic and professional learning and success and providing thorough feedback on their assignments.
In her scholarly work, Dr. Moughrabi has received 15 intramural and extramural grants in supporting her research projects, including her recent study of Peer-Mentored Program to Increase Success and Retention of Nurse Practitioner Students (CSUDH Research, Scholarship, and Creativity Activity Award 2021-22). Dr. Moughrabi also strives in her scholarly writing, as she has published over 15 peer-reviewed articles. In addition, with her passion for research, she presented her research findings at many regional, national, and international conferences. She is a great example of a nursing faculty who not only teaches effectively but also applies research to her teaching and clinical practice.
Furthermore, with Dr. Moughrabi’s service mindset, she serves the students, the school of nursing, and the university tirelessly. More importantly, Dr. Moughrabi consistently offers unwavering support to her colleagues when they seek her assistance. One junior faculty noted that “over the course of my three-year collaboration with Dr. Moughrabi, her positive attitude and commitment to her work have been truly inspiring. Her enthusiasm for personal growth and professional development is remarkable, and she has been an invaluable source of guidance and support during my tenure as a new faculty member. Dr. Moughrabi also demonstrates a caring and diligent work ethic. She frequently goes above and beyond by dedicating her weekends to ensure her students' success and timely project completion…”
Recently, Dr. Moughrabi took on an additional role as the school’s assessment coordinator, which she quickly adapted and embraced. Her quick grasp of the responsibilities and ability to streamline the data collection process to measure student learning outcomes are noteworthy.
