Sammy Lumasai's skills and knowledge as a nurse I’m not qualified to speak on. I’m sure that he meets Eskenazi standards. I would like to say why I feel nurse Sammy Lumanasai is a DAISY Nurse, and what places him above the other nurses on my care team. All Eskenazi nurses are special in their own way. Nurse Sammy Lumasai has a wonderful quality within himself. I’ve been on the 10th floor Acuity Adaptable unit for more than a week. I suffer from (CHF) water in my lungs. Water on my thighs as well. I’ve had many different doctors and professionals working with me. Changing my treatment plan daily. My nurse, Sammy, always explained my treatment plan as well as made me a part of the process. By asking how I felt and if it was a good time, for something as simple as taking my weight. With each visit, he has come with encouragement and a smile. He (Sammy) speaks to me as a person not just a patient. Not only does he see my health care needs, but my small personal needs as well. His encouragement has played a big role in my recovery as of today. Even though I’ve been here for 8 days and look as if I will be here another 6 days. My nurse, Sammy Lumasai, makes me feel that I’m important and not just a patient or part of his job.
