Sister Marion from Mediclinic peds in Pietermaritzburg is someone whose dedication and kindness I will never ever forget. My daughter had gone to theatre to have a central line inserted. When she came out, she was just not herself. Sister Marion was on duty and she sat outside her room all night. At 4 am my daughter had started to make grunting sounds I immediately knew something was very wrong. I called for Sister, and she checked her and at that stage I knew my child had suffered a stroke. She jumped into action, calling the relevant people, all the while reassuring me as I was a state. My daughter was transferred to ICU at 8 am and that evening I was sent home. Sr Marion checked on her through the night and phoned me with an update every hour. I was so grateful because I was so worried and getting those updates just helped me get through that very long night. She made a terrible situation so much more bearable, and I will always be forever grateful to her.
