My mom has ovarian cancer and has been fighting for 2 years. Recently, fluid overload has caused three trips to Tanner, with two admissions. I was scared to leave her alone, and I was her primary caregiver, but I had no other choice. Sandie reassured me that she had cared for her before and recognized that her mental status had altered from the prior admission when she saw her. She held my mom’s hand, got her to focus on her, and calmed her down from an anxiety attack, which was a new issue she had developed due to dyspnea. She made me feel confident in leaving my mom in her care. I cried just from being so grateful for her. She also called me overnight to update me on her status. I appreciate her treating my family like she truly cared. This has been a truly scary time for my mom and for our whole family. Nobody who cared for her was as caring and helpful as she was! If every nurse were like Sandie, we would have a world of awesomeness!
