July 2024 Honoree
Sandra Babcock, RN
Sandy Babcock is an excellent nurse who advocates for her patients regularly. Sandy had a patient who was complaining of hip pain for several days leading up to Sandy being assigned to the patient. The doctor had ordered pain medication and had adjusted the medication due to the patient's continued complaints. The patient was set to be discharged when Sandy insisted that an x-ray of the patient's hip might be in order before sending her to rehab. The doctor finally agreed because Sandy was insistent and the patient's hip was determined to be fractured. The patient ended up having surgery to repair the hip before being discharged. If not for Sandy's care for this patient the fracture would have gone undiagnosed until after discharge when the patient inevitably would have had to come back and would have continued to be in pain longer than needed.
Thank you, Sandra, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
