Brown was nominated by a patient having a bone marrow biopsy who described her interaction with Brown as "the setting for a most wonderful demonstration of caring, kindness and professionalism."
The patient appreciated that Brown came into the room before the procedure and methodically and clearly explained each step.
"Sandra knew that this was a new experience for me", the patient said. "She presented her information carefully and made sure I understood the process. She answered my questions and allayed my concerns and apprehensions before I even expressed them."
The patient also noted how Brown "smoothly orchestrated the work of the other staff in the room" throughout the procedure.
"Education and training teach people to be proficient in their roles," said the patient. "But it takes a special person to do the work with such attention to and consideration for the patient. Sandra is indeed an asset to Beverly Hospital."
