Nurse Carroll represents the pillar of Dillwyn's Medical Department. She possesses a work ethic, commitment, and nurse traits, which should be coveted by many in the field of nursing. Nurse Carroll's flexibility has landed her in roles such as Preceptor, Administrative Nurse, and Lead Pill Room Nurse. She possesses vast knowledge in correctional nursing and lends years of experience to our Team. Nurse Carroll is collaborative and offers sound ideas in decision-making. She embraces inclusivity, engagement, civility, and diversity within the Department. Ms. Carroll, when able, does not hesitate to be of any assistance to the sister facilities within VADOC. Due to her 18 years as a Nurse in VADOC, Nurse Carroll offers many layers of wisdom and knowledge, allowing her the ability to adapt quickly and handle challenges (new and old), with outstanding grace and stewardship. Not even DOC IT changes can take her down! Ms. Carroll is fearless, strong, hardworking, and devoted to her craft in nursing. She has a heart of encouragement and supported me on many days when I felt like giving up. Not only does Ms. Carrol represent the values of being a nurse, but she also truly embraces and cares about those within her Team. She is an amazing confidant and friend to those who have had the pleasure and opportunity to work in her presence. Each day for the past four (4) months, I have witnessed Ms. Carroll imparting "gems" to DWCC nursing staff. As her year of retirement approaches, Nurse Carroll is not concerned about herself. Her desire is to ensure the pill room and nurses will continue to manage tasks and ensure a seamless transition in her departure. Ms. Carroll deserves to be recognized for her time and commitment to VADOC and HSU. Her level of dedication is "old school" and hard to come by in today's current world. She is a valuable being whom I am ever so pleased to have met and had the opportunity to work with. Thank You, Ms. Carroll! You are an amazing nurse and individual!
