My mom was admitted to Adventist Health Bakersfield after her kidneys and the respiratory system suddenly started failing. She spent 9 days in the ICU and while there are numerous nurses that went out of their way to make sure my mom was well cared for, in particular, stands out above all others.
Sandra spent Christmas night caring for my mom. She was quick to respond to every need and even though my mom was unconscious and unresponsive, Sandra spoke to my mom with kindness and acted as though my mom was personally important to her. Not only did Sandra provide amazing care for my mom, she cared for me.
I spent Christmas night in the ICU with my mom and Sandra explained every single thing she did in great detail; she taught me why various things were important, she answered every question thoroughly, and she helped me understand what was happening. She spent time listening to my concerns, she helped keep me distracted from my worry by having normal conversations with me about life and joking with me in a way that made things feel normal, even if only for a few hours.
I have dealt with a lot of hospitals and a lot of nurses and I will not hesitate to say that Sandra is by far the kindest, most competent, and truly caring nurse I have ever encountered.
