...My wife and I have both been diagnosed with cancer. We both have gone to the same place for our chemotherapy treatments. During my treatment my daughter and family members were able to come to my treatment. One week after I finished my treatment, my wife was diagnosed with lymphoma.
Although I was surrounded by family members during most of my treatment, the same was not possible for my wife. Our daughter had exhausted all her FMLA and vacation time and it was impossible for her to be there with my wife.
We give thanks to the Lord for our "angel", Sandra Knowlton. Sandra has been here to explain medical procedures, help manage symptoms and always responds to any of our emergencies. There is no doubt she is committed 100% to her profession, to her co-workers, to her patients and to the community. She has listened to family concerns and she is kind and compassionate to the entire family, and has always been able to give us words of encouragement during our most difficult times, finding a way to make difficult situations bearable She always does her job with a smile on her face. Sandra is like this all patients we have seen her help. She cares for all of us.
She has not only been my wife's nurse, she has been her friend, the only one who pushed my wife to positivity on those days when she feels sad, depressed and ready to quit. Sandra has taken care of my wife in every aspect and we are very thankful for what she has done. She always shows excellent clinical knowledge and always communicates clearly every procedure to us. And if we don't get it, she explains over and over until we understand. Again always with a smile on her face. We have observed how well she works with her co-workers and all members of the healthcare team. She is really a team player.
It is with honor and great pleasure that we nominate Sandra Knowlton for the DAISY award. She has been someone who demonstrates an exceptional attitude at all times. She keeps everyone motivated and handles each patient with a smile. She makes sure we understand everything that is happening and is willing to answer any question and makes sure each patient feels important to her.
