Sandy was the phone triage nurse for the day. The patient reported Sandy helped her through what she described as "some of the darkest thoughts she ever had". Sandy was worried about this patient she had just spoken with and called 911 to do a welfare check on the patient. She told 911 she was worried the patient might harm herself and requested they call Sandy after they check on the patient. Sandy also connected the patient with our social worker Tarese Fox. Tarese reached out to the patient and the patient shared that the patient was getting her issues resolved and that the patient wanted to express her gratitude to Sandy who went "above and beyond" and how Sandy's "acts of kindness in hearing her, taking her seriously, and showing so much concern helped her mentally more than anyone realizes." The patient goes on to state "she has never had people besides family show her that much kindness." The patient goes on to state "if you ever wonder if you helped a patient, you absolutely helped this one." The patient goes on to say Sandy's extra time and attention caused her to take pause long enough threat she does want to live and keep fighting for her health to improve.
