August 2026 Honoree
Sandra LeBoeuf, LPN
I brought my 10-year-old daughter into the ER after eight days of nonstop vomiting and diarrhea. She could not eat or drink much in those days, and I was beyond worried at this point. The exhaustion and worry had my mind spiraling. That weekend was her first-ever ER trip in her life, so she was nervous as well. And I was convinced something was wrong with her, more than a virus.
Sandy was an absolute Godsend for me. She took the time to tell me things she’s experienced in Emergency medicine that made her think my daughter was okay and this just needed to get out of her system, all while validating my need as a mother to know for sure. She didn’t belittle me or talk down to me. She just met me right in the mess of my mental exhaustion I was in, showing me so much compassion. She was nursing me as much as my daughter, and she didn’t even realize it.
My daughter loved her. She is a curious kid with lots of questions. She took the time to let her be curious and ask all her questions. She answered every single one with a smile.
There are some people who just have that bedside manner that makes you feel like family or that you have known them forever. Sandy definitely has that. Words can’t even describe the type of care and compassion she shows. She’s an angel.
