She is a great example of what I look for in a caregiver for my son. She most definitely was one of our all-time favorite nurses.
I had my son at 29 weeks gestation. He stayed in the NICU for 116 days. He was on support due to BPD in neonates. During our stay, Sandy did an amazing job caring for our little guy. She looks out for our son and explains his cares in a way for us to understand. The way she cared for our son was extra special, a way in which we loved and would want our son to be treated. When times were rough, she provided comfort even when we did not know what the next couple of days would hold. As first-time parents, we didn't really know what to expect but Sandy made sure our questions were always answered and always included us. The way she included us felt so family-like that we were sad she didn't get to say goodbye when it was time to leave the NICU. She is a great example of a patient advocate. She ensures his needs and cares are met and advocates for my son when there is a change in his care plan knowing he is not ready to move onto another milestone because she knew him well and ensured we were comfortable with the rate things were moving while keeping us to date. I would say Sandy went above and beyond for our son and for her job, I wish there were more nurses like her. She is a great example of what I look for in a caregiver for my son. She most definitely was one of our all-time favorite nurses. Sandy will always hold a special place in our hearts just like the NICU and their staff.
