She really made us, the whole family, feel seen and heard during my mom's stay.
My mom was admitted to Caverna Hospital for severe Pneumonia in both lungs. Since she was admitted by her PCP, the transition into a room was a bit different than coming through the ER. Sandra was the first nurse my mother had, and wow, she set the bar high. From the start, she was very patient and diligent with her words. She was kind and answered every question she could. This was the first time my mother had an overnight stay, so it was a stressful time. Sandra did express that she was covering someone else's shift that day, and she wouldn't be the nurse the whole time. She never complained about lending a helping hand and coming in on her day off. She never made us feel like an inconvenience to her. After a few minutes of being in the room and completing the admission process, we noticed that the AC unit wasn't working properly in the room. Not only did Sandra notify maintenance right away, but she did everything in her power to keep my mom comfortable and cool till it was fixed. She brought cold rags, fans from the nurses station and multiple cold drinks. She assured us that if it wasn't fixed in the next hour, they would move her rooms, which meant a lot. She really made us, the whole family, feel seen and heard during my mom's stay. She explained everything she was doing and was very skillful at doing it. I know she wasn't her nurse for long, but in my mom's words, "she was the best nurse I've ever had, she almost felt like a friend." Thank you, Sandra.
