I am a 73-year-old woman that needed surgery. I had put the surgery off for two years because of fear of complications, but the time had come where surgery was something I couldn't live without due to the pain. The surgery was extensive and required I have a catheter. I went through the surgery fine and had a good recovery, except for emptying my bladder immediately after surgery, this would need to happen before I could go home. All the nurses from the time I went into the hospital were excellent, but Sandra worked with me and extended the seven hours that was required to empty my bladder. She walked with me, brought me tea that I asked for, and did anything to help me. Sandra encouraged me, and I think went out of her way to help me to not have to wear a catheter home for the weekend. Sandra is deserving of the DAISY Award.
