She was so patient with him. She took her time listening and addressing his concerns.
My husband was admitted through the ER because of his altered state of mind, fatigued and weak to find out he was in ketoacidosis. He has also been diagnosed with adenoid cystic cancer earlier this year. He was a nurse's nightmare. He was agitated, aggressive, and combative. I had never seen him in this condition. He refused meds, txs, tests, accu checks, and his insulin. He would kick, scream, hit and demand his rights. A wonderful person, a wonderful nurse was assigned to him. I can't say enough about his care on 6W. One nurse, in particular, Sandra deserves the medal of honor! She was so patient with him. She took her time listening and addressing his concerns. She never complained about his awful behaviors but set out to console, comfort, and address how to handle him. I was at my breaking point and she lifted my spirits and consoled me during this difficult time. She won us over. The patient began cooperating, taking his meds, doing the accu checks and his behavior settled down. Nurses like Sandra are superior. She was available, attentive, caring, knowledgeable, and professional and if that isn't enough adjectives, let me add compassionate and awesome! She went above and beyond her duties to help us get well. I'm forever thankful for nurses like Sandra.
