My husband was admitted to your Step Down unit and Sandra was our nurse. She immediately came to the room and welcomed my husband. She took her time and explained everything to him. She was the model of AIDETS.
During the first night she noticed he was uncomfortable. While I was asleep, she discovered that at home he wraps his legs with ace wraps due to his restless leg syndrome. She went and got leg wraps and gave them to him. He was so impressed that she did that for him without him asking. He actually never slept that first night. She was in and out of the room so often that he never even needed to use his call light. She met his every need before he asked. She also never seemed upset or bothered when he asked for the twelfth time, “I am not sick, am I?” “I don’t need this oxygen, do I?”
The second night, Sandra came into assess my husband. After she left, he said, “I can go to sleep now, she takes good care of me.”
As a department manager, this is truly the type of nurse I admire.
