Sandra Stein-Gediohn is a model of the kind of dedication to patient care and professionalism that we strive for at Children's Hospital. In addition to being impeccable at following through with the day-to-day things that are needed for our patients, she goes the extra mile for those patients who demonstrate a particular need either because of their socioeconomic situation or their medical condition.
A good example is a challenging situation involving a patient with inflammatory bowel disease in which Sandra helped to organize a multidisciplinary care conference and made sure that even the seemingly minor details were attended to. Without her help, the meeting would not nearly have gone so well, and it turned out to be very productive indeed.
She has shown initiative in reaching out to other providers to help facilitate patient care. I sometimes feel that the outpatient staff nurses don't get quite the same recognition as their inpatient counterparts due to not having as much exposure.
Sandra Stein-Gediohn is an excellent example of the invaluable role that our outpatient nurses have in the care of our patients.
