Sandy is always willing to help us out, but today, she went WAY above and beyond. I was in charge, and we had a patient we placed in isolation because of bed bugs. She went in and had a difficult conversation with the family members about this situation. Then, we came to find out it was the father of the patient who was the carrier of the loads of bed bugs. Sandy called Risk Management and was able to take this older gentleman down to the ED for a shower. The rest of the family opted not to go with them or assist in any way. Sandy washed and showered him, changed his colostomy, and got him food. The patient was the son of this gentleman, and the son was at the end of his life. This allowed the Dad to stay and be clean while saying goodbye to his son. Sandy is the best, and I appreciate everything she does!
