My baby was born prematurely, weighing 1,000 kilograms and with a reserved diagnosis from the Doctors due to her prematurity, she was admitted directly to the NICU for care. We will remember our experience in the NICU all our lives; we lasted 50 days with our baby hospitalized, coping and fighting great battles that came her way in the NICU. The entire group of NICU nurses welcomed us pleasantly and took care of our premature baby with great delicacy and professionalism. However, it is important to highlight that from the beginning of our journey, we met nurse Sandy, who supported us as parents to understand each of the devices and procedures that were performed on our baby from day 1 when we entered the NICU. It was very difficult and disconcerting for us to see our daughter covered in wires and connected to devices that helped her get by. In the midst of our anguish, Nurse Sandy always filled us with peace of mind and hope through her beautiful words. Our baby was always very calm when it was Nurse Sandy's turn to take care of her, and so were we as her parents. Sandy's big heart for talking to our baby every time she held her to do procedures left her very calm, she even sang lullabies to her! Every time Nurse Sandy took care of our baby, we confirmed that she had great experience and passion for her work; for example, there were days when our baby did not gain weight, and we were desperate because we did not see progress. Our Pediatrician was looking for alternatives, Sandy approached us and suggested that our baby be rolled up in a blanket to give her peace of mind and limit her movements a little (Sandy observed that our baby was very restless and liked to move). Our Doctor gratefully accepted Sandy's suggestion and began rolling the baby up in a blanket, in the following days we began to notice how he was gaining weight and getting better.
