Sandy has compassion for her patients and their families. She is a patient advocate and I would like to share the following example. At our facility, one of our families experienced an unexpected newborn death and had limited financial resources to help with the burial. Sandy had just learned about a community resource that helps indigent families with the burial of their loved ones. Sandy took the time to explain this community resource to the family, and she assisted with making the arrangements. She also attended the service and educated the Women's staff for future patient needs. Through Sandy's advocacy, this family was able to say their final good-byes with compassion and dignity. Sandy leads by example, is a sensitive caregiver, individualizes patient care, and cares for patients with her heart.
