July 4th, EMS called in a pre-notification of a potential stroke patient. Sara activated the Code Neuro and prepared the ED to receive the patient. After waiting for some time, she called the EMS and they reported that they were trying to navigate through traffic on Blossom Ave. The fireworks at the park had just ended and they were literally stuck because the cars wouldn't allow them to pass. Upon hearing this, Sara ran to the corner, she instructed Dickinson EMS to block one of the streets and she proceeded to run down Blossom, tapping on windows and telling the cars to move over to allow EMS to pass through. The patient arrived safely and luckily was downgraded from a Code neuro.
Sara's actions went above and beyond the call of duty! She is one of the reasons why we are the best Emergency Department in this area.
