Sara understood them well and took time to explain everything in detail
On many occasions, Sara Benedetti has figured out how to communicate, educate and cheer her patients. Our patients are fighting difficult battles mentally and physically. Sara's approach helps the patients by distracting their minds from the ailments they have.
One day we had a patient admitted to our unit for treatment. The wife of the patient came and requested we assign Sara to them. I was curious about the request, so the wife explained that Sara understood them well, took time to explain everything in detail, and that they were so comfortable with her.
On another occasion, we had a patient who was very depressed about her condition. She would never smile. Then one day, I found this patient very cheerful and laughing with Sara by her side. When I met the patient later, I complimented her on the behavior change. She explained that Sara made her feel very special. She showed me a board that was specially prepared for her by Sara. It clearly outlined her care routines that made it easy for the patient to understand the course of treatment. What amazed her was that Sara took time to make her special. Perhaps that was all it took to go from a frown to a smile.
