Sara took it upon herself to make several phone calls to numerous people to get the ball rolling, she was the only person who understood the situation and worked to get it resolved.
My son is a 26-year-old man who has Down Syndrome, he arrived at Grady with a broken back. This was such a scary time for us both.
Out of all our time here we spent 4 wonderful days with Sara, more than any other nurse.
Watching her with my son was heartwarming. She really took the time to not only listen to him but to actually HEAR him, and after 26 years as his mom, I can tell you there is a big difference.
She truly went out of her way on so many occasions it would be hard to name them all. I will tell you about a few.
At one point we were stuck in a kind of limbo between ortho, neuro, trauma, and OT/PT. He needed a custom brace but no one seemed to be taking ownership of his case to get it ordered.
Sara took it upon herself to make several phone calls to numerous people to get the ball rolling, she was the only person who understood the situation and worked to get it resolved.
Many times she would take a spare moment to come to visit him, talk to him, and make sure he had what he needed.
Her kindness and respect are a credit to her profession, her patience and she is an asset to the Grady team.
As a young nurse, I believe she will only get better and will have an amazing career in nursing, touching many lives.
